Here We Are: Welcome to FolksLore
I’ve Fallen, I’ve Risen & I’m Taking You With Me
Meet Tim - a coconut tree I planted in Thailand, named after my favorite person - my brother.
“Document everything.”
When I first set out on this journey to create DrinkFolks, a friend urged me to capture every moment. Little did they know, I already had a digital trove of thoughts, notes, and noodle-slurping videos filling up my devices—a chaotic but precious record of this path we’re on together.
Back then, I was traveling Indonesia on what was supposed to be a simple 30-day “eat, pray, love” trip. But that month blossomed into nearly two years of transformative living across Southeast Asia. It was a time of deep growth that I now realize was essential in bringing DrinkFolks to life.
liv·ing (noun): the journey of finding oneself, falling and rising, surviving (many) accidents, making mistakes, and choosing joy, even when it’s hard. It's learning to ask for help, of experiencing community, of exploring beyond the familiar, and of being inspired to give back.
From village to village, I listened to the stories of female farmers and producers - their struggles and dreams, learning what kind of support they need to grow their businesses and create lasting change in their communities. Their resilience and strength echo the legacy of my own family—the women who came before me, who sacrificed and persevered to get us here, with unwavering grace and kindness.
Introducing DrinkFolks: Empowering You and Female Farmers, One Sip at a Time
It was then that I knew my mission: to invest in these women, support their growth, and honor their stories. As a true energy exchange, DrinkFolks will be bringing 1300-year-old Indonesian jamu, formulated to support your immunity and well-being naturally, while empowering female farmers through the Folks Fund. With each purchase, 3% of sales go into this fund, fueling gender equity in agriculture and investing in the growth of women-led agricultural businesses and entrepreneurs across Asia.
And because I believe in sharing the journey as much as the result, we’ve created “FolksLore,” the DrinkFolks blog. Through each article, I hope you feel seen, cared for, and leave having learned something new—about yourself, the world, or the incredible strength of the folks who fuel it.
The Power of Travel, and Letting Inspiration In
The creation of DrinkFolks was not born out of any single revelation, but from the space that travel and open-hearted exploration made in my mind. When you allow yourself to just be, even if just for a while, you find surprising clarity. Southeast Asia, with its vibrant cultures, landscapes, and resilient people, gave me room to dream beyond boundaries and imagine a world where women receive the investment, respect, and partnership they deserve.
As we near our launch, I’ll be sharing more of this journey here on FolksLore —the wins, the lessons, the stories that inspire us. Sometimes it will be about business, sometimes personal, and sometimes just a glimpse into our evolving community.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for choosing to be part of this movement with DrinkFolks.
Welcome to the ride, Folks.
